Extractions
Thanks to advances in orthodontic technology, extractions are becoming less and less frequent in our treatments. That being said, sometimes a tooth extraction is the best thing for your smile.
Will I need tooth extractions?
The decision to extract teeth in orthodontic treatment is made on a case-by-case basis after a thorough examination by a Specialist Orthodontist. We won’t know if you need extractions until after your assessment, but we do everything we can to avoid extractions during treatment.
Tooth extractions are typically recommended when there is severe crowding or misalignment of teeth that cannot be corrected through braces or clear aligners alone.
Ensure a proper smile assessment
Don’t let anyone tell you you do or don’t need extractions without a full smile assessment. An assessment is essential for giving a meaningful opinion on the best treatment for your smile. If anyone offers to treat you without extractions before an assessment, regard them with caution.
