Around a third of young people will need orthodontic treatment. Having straighter teeth helps keep your mouth healthy, as children and teens are able to care for their teeth and gums more easily once they are in the proper alignment.
Some orthodontic concerns can be treated early to prevent complex orthodontic problems in the future, but, on average, most patients are ready for active therapy at between 12 and 13 years old. Your regular dentist will be able to advise you when you are ready for orthodontic treatment and will arrange referrals to specialist care.

Get in touchMany of our younger patients qualify for treatment on an NHS basis, providing they are under 18 and there is a clear health need. There is high demand for this treatment, and, as such, long waiting lists are in operation. NHS treatment offers removable and fixed metal braces to straighten the teeth.
Book an appointmentWe also offer treatment on a self-funded basis for any under 18s who are not eligible for NHS treatment, those who would prefer not to wait to be seen or anyone who would like a more cosmetic teeth straightening option such as aligner therapies.
